Hopefully, you are healthy and managing your time well as we all do our part to flatten the COVID-19 curve! I self-isolated myself after I came back from a nursing conference right before everything was locked down. I wanted to make sure my friends did not get exposed if I had been exposed - and, so far, so good!
As a healthcare provider or student, you will probably see an increase in the number of family, friends, and neighbors asking for answers to their questions. So I created a blog post to help you answer some of those questions. Click on the link:
The newsletter is late this month; it didn't go out on the 5th for a lot of reasons. I've been out-of-town speaking at a nursing conference for one thing, but the biggest reason is that I was hoping to announce how to access the free workshop of videos for How to Thrive in Nursing School I've told you about in previous newsletters. It's just taken more time than I
thought to write, record, and edit the videos and accompanying resources. Now, I'm trying to figure out how the software works for presenting the course on my website. I'll send an extra email soon with directions on how to access this free video workshop.
Another reason I'm sending the newsletter now instead of waiting until April is because some important info from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) and the National League for Nursing (NLN) came to my attention and I know that it will be of interest to the nursing students in the NEE community.
- First, the NCSBN is opening NCLEX testing centers in a limited number of areas. See the blog post I put out about this, HERE.
- Second, The NLN and the NCSBN have issued a joint press release asking "nursing schools and programs to offer the greatest possible flexibility [regarding clinical experiences] to students nearing
graduation during this time of the COVID-19 crisis." You can find this blog post, HERE.
So that's the latest. Look for the email on the free video workshop available soon!
Remember that others are watching you - Be a good role model! Cover your cough or sneeze, wash your hands frequently, don't go near others if you are sick, and, in general, stay away from people to help stop this disease.
Stay Healthy!
