How are you, ?
“Nurses are the heart of healthcare.”
~ Donna Wilk Cardillo
Happy May!
During Nurses Month, I would like to extend a special thanks to you, our nurses and nursing students, as you continue to provide the highest level of quality care to your patients. You deserve special recognition for your efforts to excel, lead, and innovate every day! You make a difference.
Every year we celebrate Nurses Week from May 6 - May 12, but this year Nurses are being celebrated the entire month of May! The World Health Assembly (part of the World Health Organization [WHO]), declared 2020 as the "Year of the Nurse and Midwife." Why was 2020 chosen for this auspicious recognition? Because it's the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

In tribute to nurses everywhere, major nursing organizations are preparing celebrations for the month of May and all year long. Here's one to check out: the American Nurses Association (ANA) has extra-special free resources available to recognize your service and vital role in healthcare. There are four themes for each week in May to celebrate nurses: Self-Care (5/1-5/9), Recognition (5/10-5/16), Professional Development (5/17-5/23), and Community Engagement (5/24-5/31). Click on the link and participate in the celebration!
While the COVID-19 pandemic has turned our world upside down, it's also given many people extra time at home. Personally, I’m using this time to read articles about COVID-19 and disaster preparedness and access resources like continuing-education courses, webinars, and workshops about nursing and topics related to my website and
consulting business. I listen to podcasts about health and happiness when I walk the dog.
You can use this time to read, study, care for yourself and others, and expand your mind. This is a perfect time to use this gift of extra time to improve yourself and I’m going to suggest that you be sure to watch the FREE video workshop series I created on How to Thrive in Nursing School!
Not only will this free series of videos and resources provide valuable information that you can put into practice now, but the principles are universal and you’ll find you will be able to adapt them to your everyday and professional life. Read more below...

P.S.S. If you are a practicing nurse or nursing student, thank you for your service to your patients, organization, and the nursing profession! Though I do not currently work in a healthcare facility, I'm a member of my state medical volunteers; I'm ready if they need me.
