With July comes more chilly weather, but it also brings National Diabetes Week. Held annually on the second week of the month, National Diabetes Week focuses on bringing awareness to the many facets of diabetes, from detection, to prevention, to improved treatments. This year's message is "It's About Time", emphasising the importance of early detection
and recognising potential diabetic symptoms.
To promote the use of healthy eating to combat diabetes complications before they occur, our newly appointed dietitian Angela is running a Diabetes Nutrition Workshop on Monday 9th July. Angela will show how to properly read nutrition labels to take the guesswork out of your next grocery shop, and how to improve your confidence to make healthy food choices every time. She will also explain the role
nutrition plays in diabetes management and answer the age-old question; "What should I be eating if I have diabetes?"
The workshop runs from 6-7pm and is open to all, with particular relevance to those people with pre- or newly diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes. It is
free to attend, you just need to book your spot. To do so, please send an email to event organiser Gabby on
[email protected] or you can give us a call on (02) 4963 2323
