YFC Update

Hello

We started our post-lockdown programs with Social Sewing on Saturday with lots of masks being worn and sewn! Thanks to everyone who has worn a mask and followed precautions so far this week. We have updated our Risk Assessment and COVID Safety Plan to reflect the new requirements and we are also continuing to ensure regular cleaning throughout the day.

Occasional Care is open to all families from this week. Occasional Care is on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8.30am-3.30pm. Bookings are currently being taken from Tuesday 9 February – Tuesday 23 February. If you would like to make a booking please contact the centre via email or phone 9417 9995. We also have a limited number of permanent places available on Tuesdays and Fridays for 0-18 month olds. If you are interested in a permanent position please contact the office.

Pre-Kindy has commenced with an Orientation Session held via Zoom yesterday for parents. This week children are attending half day sessions before commencing full days next week. Our Tuesday and Wednesday sessions are full. We have places available on Fridays. Please contact the office for more information 9417 9995.

This year the Yangebup Community Eats program is being hosted at the family centre. The first one is on Friday 12 February from 6-7pm. Light meal is provided and everyone is welcome. We will also be providing a takeaway option!!

Next week we will be hosting our Chinese New Year event at the Atwell Community Centre on Monday 15 February from 9.30-11am. There will be lots of activities suitable for children under 5 years and entertainment provided by the Cockburn Chinese Community Association and Connecting Community for Kids. Bookings are essential for this FREE event.

Playclub and Playgroup will commence next week. Places are available in our Atwell Playclub for families with children 2-4 years on Mondays from 9.30-11am. Booking information is available on our website or contact the office.

Social Sewing with creche starts Monday 15 February, check out the other dates available on Mondays and Thursdays.

Belly Dancing was a great success last year so we are running it again this term. Join Selina for our 6 week program starting 18 February.

Community Eats

This year the Yangebup Community Eats program is being hosted at the family centre. The first one is on Friday 12 February from 6-7pm. A Light meal is provided and everyone is welcome. This initiative is a partnership between various groups who provide support to the community. We will be providing the first program.

Chinese New Year

This year we will be celebrating Chinese New Year with an event at the Atwell Community Centre on Monday 15 February from 9.30-11am. Wear your favourite red outfit and join us in celebrating Year of the Ox. There will be plenty of craft and activities to keep little ones entertained. Bookings are essential for this FREE event as space is limited. Please bring a plate of morning tea (nut free) to share.

Belly Dancing

Selina started her belly dance journey in 1998. She attended classes with one of the top belly dance instructors in Perth. She is a certified belly dance instructor and has attended workshops including safe dance practice. The personal benefits gained have been great and many friends made along the way.
Belly dancing is a beautiful art form of exercise and fun for people of all ages. It assists to improve self esteem, confidence, body image, self expression and creativity. Bookings essential.

Social Sewing

Social Sewing on Mondays and Thursdays with creche available.

Come along for sewing and chatting. All levels of sewing experience are welcome but these sessions do not include any formal tuition, so a basic level of experience is recommended. Please bring your own sewing machine and supplies, or we have some machines available for hire. Boomerang Bag kits will be available for those of you who would like to do some community sewing. Creche is available for a fee of $6 per child (3rd child $4). Bookings are essential.
