Engineers of
Tomorrow Inspiring the next generation of problem solvers and game changers! We were honoured to be asked back to the Glenforest STEM conference.
An event designed to encourage and expose students to the educational and career pathways in the STEM fields. Xplore 2018 did not disappoint - featuring a multitude of speakers, workshops, and activities pertaining to the STEM field all with the goal of inspiring the youth to pursue a STEM career.
Overheard at the event....
"This was my favorite thing today!"
"I'm bringing this home to show everyone!"
"Wow, I didn't know engineers could design and build toys! Cool!"
(above) Creative robots designed by a group of Grade 11 students from one of the participating schools. We created a positive experience for these groups by engaging them in this fun, hands-on Crazy Contraptions activity (an Engspire original, thanks Rose!). Teams were challenged to create their "prototype", and
then have the design approved by the licensed engineer before moving forward with mass production of 2018's hottest toy! We loved experimenting with creating awareness of the importance of an engineering license + creativity too.
Creating Impact With Our Community Action Partnership
We are so please and grateful for the THOUSANDS of positive STEM experiences that are being created by EoT's Community Action Partnership!
We only have 2 SPOTS LEFT for CAP partners in 2019! Send us an email if you think your company would be a good fit for this program.
On a personal note...
From our CEO (Becky)...
I decided to start a FIRST Lego League team in my town (Orangeville) this year. My motivations for this were (a) to bring some high quality STEM opportunities to local kids, and (b) to put EoT's methods into practice for myself.
It was an amazing experience, which culminated in us attending our first tournament! I am so proud of the team - they worked hard for the last few months designing and programming a robot to complete the Into Orbit Challenges, coming up with an innovate solution to help lonely astronauts during long space travel....all the while demonstrating the FIRST Core Values (Discovery, Innovation,
Inclusion, Impact and Fun). Can't wait for next year!
Photos (1st) - Becky with her son (Daniel) showing off their team shirts - Team RPJ (Robotic Pickle Juice) "We're kind of a big dill!".
(2nd) - The team prepares for their first ever official match! Team members Vanessa (Becky's daughter) & Lucas (at the table), and subs Ben & Daniel ready to jump in!
From our Founder (Erica)...

With Becky at the helm these last few months, I am so happy have the time to work on other projects, in addition to continuing to grow EoT's exciting outreach work. Lately I have been spending more time recording my thoughts on Lean, Six Sigma and manufacturing. Here's a little video snippet of me explaining something we say all the time at
Engineers of Tomorrow... embrace the red! Enjoy the festive backdrop and please check out ericaleeconsulting.com for more on my consulting work. I'm also facilitating a WinSETT women's leadership course starting in January in Toronto -- some spots still available -- info and registration here.

Cheers,
Becky and Erica, always scheming and dreaming!
