Engineers of
Tomorrow Inspiring the next generation of problem solvers and game changers!
We hope that you had a wonderful holiday filled with lasting memories and great experiences.
As you know...here at EoT...we like to focus on experiences! ("It's not about the activity, it's about the experience"....sound familiar??). In the spirit of celebrating these experiences that YOU are helping to create, and with a promising 2019 already in motion, we thought we would dedicate this newsletter to highlighting our best experiences from 2018!
1. Kicking off our CAP Pilot with P&G
|
We are so grateful to Procter and Gamble for working together with EoT and the Toronto Catholic District School Board to create amazing experiences for some grade 9 students. The pilot was a huge success, and we are continuing to work with TCDSB to create more positive engineering experiences for their students in 2019!
The Wordle below is an illustration of how the students described their experience.
2. Biggest & best NEM to date
|
NEM 2018 was an experience for MANY to remember. Ontario highlights included....
- Making the campaign accessible to 300 teachers & students with NEM school kits
- Addition of the ESOC (Engineering Student Outreach Challenge)
- The College Student Challenge had a great turnout this year and the additional prize money was used to reward the winning teams!
- 662 in-person events throughout March (the most yet!)
- and new organizations joining in the celebration with the #NEM2018 hashtag on social media
Although we are not directly involved as a service provider for National Engineering Month again this year, we are excited to celebrate along with everyone else this coming March!
Above - Vanessa White (Becky's daughter) with her teacher, Justin Hamilton celebrating NEM by showing off her own Engspire card, one of the activities included in the NEM school kits!
3. EoT's founder welcomes a new "engineer of tomorrow"
|
Erica Lee Garcia was please to announce the birth of baby Lucia in March 15th, 2018 - just in time for National Engineering Month! Coincidence?!?
Baby Lucia has been a joy to everyone in the family, and is lucky to have big sister, Rosa, who loves to help care for her!

There are so many great collaborators that are doing some amazing work to enhance STEM experiences and engage students in new and exciting ways. We at EoT are always grateful when we get the chance to partner with awesome organizations to help share the message "There's a place for you!".
Here are just a few of the organizations we partnered with in some way in 2018:
5. Stepping into our identity!
|
And finally, rounding out the year with the exciting news that we are now officially a nationally incorporated, not-for-profit organization. Such an amazing way to close out 2018. We are super excited for the direction we are headed and grateful for everyone that has helped to create positive engineering experiences for thousands of kids!
|
Cheers,
Becky and Erica - high five to 2018!
