A recent trend to recruit women and under-represented demographic in STEM fields is fueling a wide range of outreach efforts across Canada. Goals set by the federal government to increase diversity of under-represented audiences in STEM fields, and Engineers Canada’s goal of increasing the
number of female professional engineers by 2030 are only some of the reasons for this increase.
These outreach efforts focus on younger (grades K-12) demographics in an effort to foster interest for engineering as soon as possible. Between workshops,clubs, courses or one off events, the effectiveness and impact of these various types of formats have not been well understood for multiple reasons.
EoT recently joined a panel of other industry experts at the CEEA 2019 Conference to share their thoughts on KPI's, best practices, gaps and challenges in measuring outreach success.
