1. Create the galaxy background by adding layers of ink onto Basic White card stock using Blending Brushes. I started with Balmy Blue, then Pacific Point, and Blackberry Bliss. Finally, I added Night of Navy to the edges. Keep adding layers of color until satisfied.
2. Add white splatters to the background using White Craft ink mixed with a small amount of water. Pick up the mixture with a paintbrush. Flick the end of the brush to add splatter.
3. Add shimmer to the splatters using Wink of Stella.
4. Cut pieces for the Whirly mechanism using the Give it a Whirl Dies:
-cut the wheel out of Balmy Blue card stock
-cut the frame out of the galaxy background
-cut the opening out of the galaxy background
-cut a directional arrow out of Night of Navy card stock
-I punched a circle out of Night of Navy card stock using 1 3/8" circle punch. This piece will be added to the back of the whirly mechanism with Dimensionals on the back, which will pop the piece up from the mat.
5. Stamp images from To the Moon on the wheel using Night of Navy and Pacific Point inks.
6. Assemble the mechanism. Insert a brad in the hole in the center of the card front, then through the wheel and punched circle. Open the feet of the brad on the back. The wheel should now spin.
7. I wanted the card front to be matted to a piece of blue glimmer paper. I didn't have any on hand, so I took a bit of silver glimmer paper and added Pacific Point ink using a Blending Brush. Attach card front to glimmer using Dimensionals to pop it up. You may have to add some Tombow Glue to the Dimensionals as sometimes they won't stick to the glimmer paper.
8. Stamp greeting on piece of scrap piece of Night of Navy card stock using White Craft ink. Heat emboss using heat tool and white embossing powder. Cut out using die-cut machine and Stitched Rectangles die.
9. Cut stars out of scrap glimmer paper using Give it a Whirl die. Attach greeting and stars to card front. Attach directional arrow using a small amount of Tombow Glue.
10. Attach to Night of Navy card base to complete.
