Masked Landscaped Cards Inspired by the Sonoran
Desert My husband and I recently traveled to Tuscon, AZ to visit family. The surrounding mountains and Sonoran Desert reminded me of our 2023-2025 In Colors: I made masked landscape cards using these desert-inspired colors. It's a simple technique using Post-it notes for the masking and Blending Brushes to add the
color. The possibilities are endless! If you'd like to make this project yourself, but need some catalog product to do so, please don't hesitate to contact me: Sonoran Desert Inspired Thank You Card A quick and simple thank you card for our Arizona Hosts, inspired by the Sonoran Desert Instructions 1.Start with 2 pieces of 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" of Basic White card stock. One will be the card front, and the other will be used as the circle mask. 2.To create a mask, punch or die-cut a circle out of the center of one of the Basic White pieces.
I used my 2 1/2" circle punch. 3.Place the circle piece over the card front. Secure them together so they do not shift. You could use a piece of washi tape. I placed them in my Stamparatus and held them together with a magnet. 4.Tear a small strip across the tops of 2-3 Post-it notes to create the
landscape masks. Be sure to leave a little bit of the sticky part. 5.Place the first Post-it note towards the bottom of the open circle with the torn edge down, leaving a small area to add ink. With a Blending Brush, add your first color to the blank space. My first color was Pebbled Path. Make the color as light or as dark as you wish. 6. Remove and place the next Post-it note with the torn side down above the first color, again leaving space. With a Blending Brush, add your second color. My second color was Copper Clay. 7.Alternate Post-It notes and add colors, working your way up to the top of the circle creating a landscape. I used Pebbled Path, Moody Mauve, then Wild Wheat. 8.Finally, add the sky color to the top of the circle. I used Bojo Blue. 9. Remove the circle mask and stamp a greeting. 10.Attach to Pebbled Path mat and Boho Blue card base. 11.Add Festive Pearls to complete. Supplies Used: Stamp Set: Pansy Patch Ink: Pebbled Path, Copper Clay, Moody Mauve, Wild Wheat, Boho Blue Paper: Boho Blue, Pebbled Path, Basic White Accessories: 2 1/2" circle punch, Post-it notes, Blending Brushes, Festive Pearls, Mini Dimensionals
Sonoran Desert Inspired Thinking of You Card Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card. These are always the hardest to create. The muted shades of the 2023-2025 In Colors work well for the occasion. Instructions: 1.Create the masked landscape using the directions above. 2.Stamp greeting from Botanical Layers using Copper Clay ink. 3.Attach to Boho Blue mat.
Attach to Copper Clay card base. 4.Add gold Festive Pearls to complete.
