(I've added some tips for using Crystal Effects at the bottom of this newsletter).
I couldn't wait to play with Crystal Effects as it was one of my all-time favorite crafting tools.
For my featured projects, I decided to "paint" using Crystal Effects.
The first sample is using the Faux Canvas Technique. By running a toothbrush through the wet Crystal Effects, you get the look and feel of canvas.
So easy to create your little works of art!
Here's how:
1. Cut rectangle card front out of Whisper White card stock using die-cut machine and Stitched Rectangles Die.
2. Make a mask of the cabin by stamping the image on a post-it-note. Cut out using a pair of scissors.
3. Stamp cabin on rectangle using Night of Navy ink. Place post-it-note mask over the stamped image. Stamp mountains over the cabin using Balmy Blue and Pacific Point ink. Remove mask.
4. Stamp landscape and trees using Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz, and Old Olive Stampin' Write Markers. Stamp single trees next to each side of the cabin using Pear Pizzazz ink. Stamp snow using Balmy Blue and Highland Heather Stampin' Write Markers. Stamp full strength, then again without reinking. Stamp falling snow above the mountains using Balmy Blue ink. Ink, stamp off, then stamp.
5. Apply Shimmery Crystal Effects over card front. You don't want it to be too thick. Add just enough to cover the card front. Create the faux canvas lines in the Crystal Effects using a toothbrush. Run the bristles of the toothbrush slowly through the Crystal Effects in one direction. I ran them through vertically, top to bottom. Then, run the toothbrush through the Crystal Effects horizontally in one direction. I did left to right. Set the piece
aside to dry completely. It may take 10-30 minutes, depending on how thick the application.
6. Stamp Buffalo Check background stamp on Whisper White card stock using Gray Granite ink. With a ruler, apply horizontal and vertical lines using Night of Navy Stampin' Write Marker.
7. Attach card front to Night of Navy mat. Attach Buffalo Check to Night of Navy card base. Attach card front using Mini Dimensionals to pop it up to complete.
The Stamparatus was used to stamp the Buffalo Check background. The other images were stamped using clear blocks.
