Weekly News

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I know I'm a day late but I wanted to send you my well wishes.
I hope your Christmas was blessed and joyful.

This years celebrations were very different from years past. No large gatherings, no visitors, no big events. Just us and our home.
It was nice and a little quiet, but in a good way.
We reflected on Christmas past and savored the holiday realizing this would probably be our last in this home.
With our construction consuming our time and thoughts, I failed to notice how many of our 'normal' traditions we didn't do. It was our middle child who missed them and brought them to my attention. She claimed it wasn't the holiday without them. It made me realize how many traditions we actually do and how meaningful they are.

We were blessed with a cold front for Christmas Day, for the first time in many years we didn't have to run the A/C. As a matter of fact, hubs is out chopping wood for the fire as I type. With a warm cup of coffee and some new homesteading magazines, I think I will continue to enjoy the solitude of our holiday.

Construction Update
Keeping up with the theme of everything taking longer than expected, we did not finish the tile last week.
We are back at it today so hopefully by weeks end the tile will be complete (fingers crossed).
Five of us share one bathroom (with one of those five being a teen daughter) so I am looking forward to it being completed.
I have to caulk trim throughout the house and paint the master bedroom. We can not locate the original paint for touch-up so a whole new paint job it is.

I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with you and I encourage you to share yours.

How To Cook A Standing Rib Roast

I actually followed this recipe and I have to say, it turned out perfect.
We used butter, rosemary, garlic, salt and pepper in our rub. Made the AuJus with the drippings and it was delicious.
