Weekly News

How has your New Year started off?

During an odd cold spell, we got snow for the first time in over six years. It has lasted longer(a whole week!) than anything I can recall in the past 23 years I've lived here.
To watch my daughters face as she saw snow for the first time was priceless.
School has been canceled for a week now and hubs is getting up all night to keep the fire going.
As the pipes froze, the car wouldn't start, and bridges to everywhere closed, it forced us to stop everything and stay indoors. This was extremely aggravating at first because we had stuff to do like everyone else.
Then I decided to embrace the moment and enjoy our first real winter in a very long time. I stopped wishing Spring would get here and really and truly appreciated the cold and what it brings.
We played board games, made snow angels and even tried our first icicle.
This may be our last winter in South Carolina and I am savoring the time we have left here.
A bonus to the could would be to kill some of the mosquito population.

Construction Update
Well I have some very good news! Our bathroom is now complete!!!!
I can't wait to show you how it turned out. I will try to take a video this week to share with you.
We did experience some sticker shock when we went to order our cedar for the exterior siding. The price has tripled since we got the bid last March!
We don't have any other option but to bite the bullet and pay the inflated cost (I can't wait until we can mil our own lumber!).
So we will finish our inside this week (Praise GOD!) and start on the siding next.

I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with you and I encourage you to share yours.

Composting Produce.
this company offers roadside composting of your produce!
I have talked about this for years! I even approached a local store chain to see if we could use their throw-away produce to compost for the community garden.
I would love to see this everywhere within the next couple of years..
