Ciudad Perdia is also one of the largest pre-Columbian towns discovered in the Americas.
Ciudad Perdida is located deep in the Sierra Nevada coastal mountains near Santa Marta. And it remains accessible only on foot in what is one of Colombia’s most exciting and breathtaking hikes. This is definitely one of the most rewarding and also challenging hikes I have been on.

|
|
There are several downsides of owning a car in Medellín. A majority of expats in the city do not own a car and we look at the pros and cons of owning a car.
While driving a car may be convenient and often a fun way of getting from one place to another, owning a car also has several downsides when compared to other modes of transport in Medellín, such as public transportation, bicycling and walking.
We surveyed over 200 expats in Medellín a few years ago and found that over 80 percent did not own cars.
One of the benefits of living in Medellín is the good public transportation with the low-cost Medellín Metro system, inexpensive buses and inexpensive taxis.
Many foreigners that move to Medellín are accustomed to having cars in their home countries. But when they move to Medellín they realize that it is quite possible to live in Medellín without a car.

Some articles have been updated multiple times, as things change constantly in Colombia. Things are now changing so fast due to coronavirus in Colombia.

In the past 154 weeks we updated a total of 2,255 articles. Here are 8 of the 18 updated articles from the past week:
Premium Content: Why the Retirement Publications Get Medellín and Colombia Wrong
|
|
The foreign retirement publications have named Medellín one of the top foreign retirement locations but we look at why these publications tend to get Medellín and Colombia wrong.
Several readers asked questions about Live and Invest Overseas’ top foreign places to retire lists wondering why Medellín didn’t make it on the list of top 15 in 2022 and Santa Marta did (but Medellín easily beats Santa Marta).
We look at why the coverage by the retirement publications frequently get Medellín and Colombia wrong and this article has been updated for 2022.
The list of the top foreign retirement locations by Live and Invest Overseas tends to change each year. Medellín is sometimes included like in 2021 and 2020 but was not included in 2022, 2019 or 2018, even though Medellín arguably beats many of the places included each year.
The bottom line is when you use information from the foreign retirement publications, keep in mind they have some biases and tend to primarily cover the positives. So, make sure to do additional research.
This article was updated with the 2022 top foreigner retirement location ratings.
