Make space for your lost treasures. Most of the times this will be emotional space (i.e. acceptance). Secondarily, it’s physical time. Your calendar is already full of the demands of "approved of you". Someone has to share by shifting priorities.
If all you do is acknowledge that lost piece when you wake up and when you go to bed, that’s a fair beginning.
If you are a hyper-analytical Alpha, your creative, artistic side isn’t used to being allowed out! I’ll take a little bit for that part of you to realize you are serious about welcoming her back into the fold.
Say hello in the morning and wonder what "that you" is going to do today or wonder how that you will look at today's agenda. That says you’re welcome in my day.
Check in at night to see if what that you thought or noticed or wanted. See if your new piece felt more “in” today than yesterday.
Follow The Subtle Urges
You make this something “old” new, by beginning to actually use the traits that you previously abandoned. Give these fractured and neglected parts of you a chance at expression.
If you feel an urge, idea, thought or intuition to do something out of the ordinary – you really need to follow it. Be very careful, the impulses will feel fuzzy and subtle versus the concrete & pushy desires of your "popular" parts.
It’ll be very easy for your efficient self to decline, deny and rationalize these away. Show goodwill by looking for those subtle “requests“ from the parts of you you’ve abandoned and honor them as best you can.
One of the urges I’ve been honoring is exploring ways to braid and play with my hair. I cut off all of my chemically straightened hair 3 months ago. I’m growing out my own, now short, curly natural hair. It’s a brand new journey!
There is a huge part of me wants to research hair and experiment. I’m letting her! What could be more girlie than wanting to invest hours learning hair techniques on YouTube?!
