Dear Friends,

Hoping this finds you well! We just wanted to give you a quick update about how plans are progressing concerning the 2020 summer season at the Ranch. As mentioned in the last update, we are in communication with all program teachers and through consensus defining how best we can support our community and ensure a safe and stress-free environment for those programs that do happen this summer.

Currently, we have postponed all June programs to Summer 2021 and are planning to hold a scaled-down Celebration for India over the Fourth of July weekend with online and live stream events for those who wish to participate but do not feel secure with travel. The state of Montana has begun the re-opening process, which will happen in a three stage process (see details here). As of May 2 we had no new infections and 5 active cases, with 16 death total for the entire epidemic throughout the state.

We are hopeful with proactive testing and social distancing measures continuing throughout the three stage process, that we will be well into Stage 2 (groups of 50 or less with appropriate social distancing) or even stage 3 by the first of July. If this proves to be the case, we along with our teachers feel there is a good chance that we can hold all programs from July 11th forward. This of course is dependent on how things progress in the rest of the country and how safely air travel can be undertaken.

We are in the process now of acquiring a UV sanitizer for yoga mats and making sure we have enough props so every guest can have their own set for their week at the Ranch. We are as well defining a clear and effective safety and sanitation protocol for all Ranch operations and facilities. We will have that defined protocol available around the first week of June. At that same time, first week of June, we along with all main-season program teachers (July through end of August) will make the final decision whether we intend to hold their programs. Late-season program (September to first of October) will decided as of the first week July.

We hope this information brings some sense of ease and reassurance to those of you who are registered or intending to register for programs this summer. As said in earlier update, final payment will not be due until 6 weeks before your desired program.

Please know that we here at the Feathered Pipe are doing everything we can to mindfully weather this storm and envision better times beyond. We so appreciate all of you that have so compassionately and kindly supported and walked with us through these interesting times. As always, communal acts of kindness and giving will see us through.

With that in mind and heart, please enjoy this wonderful interview with long-time friends of the Feathered Pipe “First Lady of Yoga” Lilias Folan and Marti Glenn. And just right for the times, we are offering a fun recipe from the legendary and much-loved Feathered Pipe Cookbook. Expect a new installment every week or so. Enjoy!

A powerful and dynamic duo, Lilias Folan and Marti Glenn led retreats at the Feathered Pipe Ranch for 25 years—years that have forever shaped their lives. Here, they reflect on the gift of friendship with India Supera, the importance of creating space for women to show up as their full selves, and the lessons that continue to teach them to this day.

Feathered Pipe Kitchen – Mystery Loaf

Mystery Loaf got its name from the fact that the basic mixture devoured a bewildering number of things in its path in quantities unknown. The recipe has been often requested never before given. The present conditions of mankind demands that it be revealed.
