Our Healing Journey Together

Dear Feathered Pipe Friends,

“We all stand in front of a single candle in total darkness. You light the candle and the light shines on to you, but when you turn around you see the light shining and there's this long shadow that extends way out. So that's you and that long shadow is the shadow of your journey through time and how you belong to family.”

~ R. Carlos Nakai

Our 2021 retreat season started off with one of the most profound experiences we have been a part of over these past 45 years. Twenty veterans along with Veterans Yoga Project teachers and staff came together after spending the past year and a half in study, meeting only through the magic of Zoom.

The veterans chosen to participate in this Mindful Resilience 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training (MRYTT) came from all walks of life with one common mission – to find a new way to navigate life and to give back to their brothers and sisters in arms. Truly this program represents everything India had envisioned so many years ago. We are so honored to serve such an incredible group of individual trying to make a difference in life!

Heading into the Main Season

Next week we welcome long-time friend, Huichol Shaman Brant Secunda back to the Ranch for a Summer Solstice celebration -- The Healing Way of the Heart. Brant has journeyed with us many times over the past forty years, teaching programs at the Ranch and participating in Native American Peace Encampments. This year’s program is certain to be of incredible significance coming out of our prolonged communal hibernation and after the loss of so many dear to us. A few spots are still open.

GRAMMY award-winning, Native America Flute performer R. Carlos Nakai, who was our guest on the most recent episode of The Dandelion Effect podcast, joins us the following week for a special tribute to India’s life -- a 5-day program The Flutes of the Feathered Pipe Ranch. R. Carlos and the FluteTree Foundation will end the program with a special benefit concert on Wednesday, 30 June, from 7 - 9pm on the Feathered Pipe Ranch main lawn in honor of India’s life work.

RSVP online is required (minimum $25 donation) with social distancing requested for all those attending and mask recommended for those who are not fully vaccinated. RSVP here. We hope you will join us for this very special event, and in the meantime please enjoy R. Carlos’ podcast Sharing Your Soul's Music.

COVID-19 Safety Protocol Update

For all 2021 Feathered Pipe retreat program registrants who have chosen to get COVID-19 vaccination, please send us your proof of vaccination as soon as possible. This will greatly assist us in coordinating with staff and program presenters. Please forward a copy to Joanne in the office at: [email protected].

For those needing clarity on our current COVID-19 safety protocol for all guests and staff at the Feathered Pipe Ranch, please visit our COVID-19 Safety Protocol page. We are updating it regularly based on recommendations from CDC, state and federal laws, and/or local Department of Health recommendations.

Hope to see you at the Ranch!

Faith & Gratitude,

The Dandelion Effect - R. Carlos Nakai: Sharing Your Soul's Music

In this conversation, we walk through Native American Flute performer R. Carlos Nakai's lifelong musical process. He speaks of the flute as a vehicle for telling your authentic story, the self expression that allows you to put yourself in the center of your life, to realize that the gifts and tools you were born with are exactly what you need to be who you are meant to be in this world.

He opens up about a near death experience that guided him even more towards service through teaching and mentoring young people, and he leaves us with the question: Who Are You and How Do You Belong?

An Evening with R. Carlos Nakai and the Flutes of the Feathered Pipe

On the evening of Wednesday, 30 June, 7 - 9pm, join us for a very special benefit concert outdoors surrounded in nature on the Feathered Pipe Ranch main lawn, featuring R. Carlos Nakai and the Flutes of the Feathered Pipe. RSVP online is required (minimum $25 donation).

This performance is the FluteTree Foundation's gift to the Feathered Pipe Ranch in honor of India Supera, who for 45 plus years dedicated her life to helping others and facilitated the Renaissance of Native American Flute.
