We have clear skies here on the east coast of Australia, and very welcome they are too, after weeks of catastrophic flooding in local towns. Still, there’s a definite chill in the air, and I’m spending a delicious afternoon off
work snuggled in bed with my hot water bottle and this month's JourneyWoman read, chosen in partnership with our friends at TripFiction.
Our July Book of the Month transports us to the beaches and freshwater ponds of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. While Miranda Cowley Heller’s debut novel, The Paper Palace, has some dark content, it’s also rich with the joy of family leisure time, and the comfort to be found
in returning to an often-visited holiday destination. It's no wonder that Reese Witherspoon wrote: “All the beautiful details in this book are enough to pull at your heartstrings…every sentence is SO vivid and luxurious you feel like you’re transported to a lakeside retreat in Cape Cod with a family you have known forever.”
As the JourneyWoman Book Club enters its third year, we've amassed quite a broad selection of novels to inspire you about travel on our Book Club page. Our monthly travel Book Club meeting is a relaxed, fun a way for you to connect with like-minded women from around the world. It’s not required that you finish (or even start) the book – our discussion questions are
crafted to give equal weight to the story itself and to the universal themes it raises, giving you a chance to participate as much or as little as you like. We also welcome local experts to join us and share their knowledge and tips.
We hope to see you at our July book club meeting, on Wednesday, July 20, at 8.00 pm EST. And don't forget to forward this email and invite a friend who loves
Sally Jane Smith, along with your book club co-hosts Wendy Brooke and Carolyn, who's taking some family time this week.
