Connect to other like-minded solo travellers!
One of the things I love most about being a woman is the feeling of
connection we share, whether in person or virtually. We give each other strength and courage. We lift each other up and inspire each other to live the life of our dreams. We support each other with our wisdom and honest experiences.
With that in mind, I wanted to update you on some of our upcoming events, meetups and webinars, and get your input on how I can support your travel planning for 2022 and beyond!
New Meetups in Toronto and New York
I'm hosting two new meetups in August. I hope you can join us!
- Saturday, August 20, 11 – 1 pm in Central Park, NYC. Meet us at the Artists’ Gate at 59th/6th Avenue, followed by a walk and picnic in the park. You can sign
- Sunday, August 28, 11 – 2 pm at the Distillery in Toronto, Canada: Join us for a photo walk and an optional lunch. More
information is here.
Community Calls and Webinars
We launched our Community Calls in
April 2020 to connect us and create a greater sense of community among our readers. I’ve been so inspired by the openness, generosity, wisdom, and support shown as we've come to know each other. That’s all down to the calibre and character of the women in this community.
Over the past three years, our webinars have covered topics from solo travel safety, fear and anxiety, self-defense to packing to menopause and animal welfare. One of our most popular sessions was our Travel Advisor Roundtable in March 2022. All of our events are available on our website and YouTube Channel.
I'm starting to plan for 2022 and 2023, and would like to know what topics are you interested in. Do you have any speakers to recommend? What destinations are you most interested in? Do you have travel tips, expertise or wisdom to share?
Save the Date - Special Webinar on Friday, September 9, 2 pm ET
Sustainable Travel with Anna Pollock, 2022 JourneyWoman Award winner
In May, I gave out our second annual JourneyWoman Award to Anna Pollock, Regenerative Tourism pioneer and Founder of
Conscious Travel. I'd like to introduce you to Anna and some other very special guests on Friday, September 9 at 2 pm ET. We'll be talking about how women can contribute to sustainable travel. Look for the registration information next week!
Women's Travel Wisdom Wellness Retreat - October 20-24, 2022
Our Women's Travel Wisdom retreat
is fast approaching. I'm thrilled to announce our incredible presenting sponsor, Match Group. Match's Tracey Breeden, VP, Head of Safety and Social Advocacy, a well-known advocate for women’s safety and human rights, is joining us as a speaker. Tracey leads Social Advocacy Strategy and Safety efforts across 15+ brands. Prior to this, she was Uber’s first Head of Women’s Safety, where she created Uber’s Global Women’s Safety & Gender-Based Violence Programs Team—the first global team dedicated to the safety of women and other vulnerable populations at Uber.
At Women's Travel Wisdom, Tracey will participate in a panel discussion called ‘The Connection Between Women’s Safety and Human Rights.’ Learn more here.
She says: “This retreat goes beyond travel; it’s really about the power of women collectively working together in service to others. Now, more than ever, women, employees, corporations, and
communities can be a force for upholding human rights and the greater good. When we take away the rights and safety of the underrepresented (women, people of color and the LGBTQ community), we are creating unsafe spaces for all that are not free from harm.
Curious to learn more about Women's Travel
- We are hosting a special Meet and Greet with Tracey on Tuesday, August 16 at 5 pm. Sign up here.
- I'm hosting a special Meet and Greet on Thursday, August 18, 5 - 7 pm in New Canaan, CT. Mindfulness speaker Caren Osten will be joining me at my friend Andrea's house and I'd love you to join us. New Canaan is easily accessible from Grand Central Station to New Canaan on the New Haven Line, which has express trains running. Schedules are here. Contact Cheri at email@example.com if you’d like to attend.
Take care — I can't wait to see you in person or virtually!
