Hello again , I hope all is well enough with you and yours?
In the next couple of issues I'm going to explain a couple of coaching tools that I am licensed to use on an individual basis.
Tip: this update is best viewed in landscape if you are on your mobile - and don't miss the images! :-)
This is one of the comprehensive coaching frameworks developed by Andrew Neitlich, and the clue
is in the title. It helps us to look together at all the relevant areas of leadership that you may want to develop, so that you focus on the most important for your situation. Then all of this is summarised on one page for easy reference as we go through the coaching.
Here are some of the areas that we would look at if we were to use this framework in an executive coaching setting,
- Vision - where are you going?
- Mission - talents and contribution
- Core values - what's non-negotiable for you? How do you live these values?
- Edge -what sets you apart?
- Performance - goals for you and your organisation
- Key projects and success criteria for you and for your organisation
- Personal and organisational relationships - how can you help each other?
- Your personal development areas
You can book a free call with me to hear more if this sounds like something that could work for you.
This is centuries-old advice from Socrates, yet how well do we actually do this, even now, with all that deep psychological understanding that we are supposed to
have these days?
This article from the BPS unpicks this surprisingly complex idea. Some
nuggets include - we easily over-estimate our own intelligence; we can be very over-confident at a task that we are objectively not good at; and even that an accurate view of ourselves is not always advantageous!
As they say on Tinder (so I'm told...) - It's complicated!
Today's book recommendation is The Little Book of Clarity: A Quick Guide to Focus and Declutter Your Mind, by Jamie Smart, who is very big in the world of Three Principles, which I outlined a couple of issues ago. It expands on the basic idea that our experience is created from the inside out, by our thinking, not by external circumstances, as seems obvious until you think about it! We live in the
feeling of our thinking, not in our circumstances.
Jamie summarises this as Clarity = Capacity minus Contamination, and goes into great detail about how the mind is, if we let it just do its thing, a self correcting system that naturally comes back to equilibrium, just as the physical body does.
In fact as I write this, I am thinking, I want to re-read this again myself!

- I'll be writing for a new local services magazine 'Essentials', about health and well-being - watch this space! The first issue comes out on 1st June and I'll give you details when I have them.
- Climate change continues to get more and more urgent, and I cannot stress this enough. So I'm still doing my best to spread the word about this. Do please consider joining my free updated list, as well as checking out my climate coaching packages in my Shop.
- If you're thinking of working personally with me, I always recommend that we first have a free intro call (updated link) to make sure coaching is
right for you before we start. If I don't think it is, I'll say so and try to signpost you to what else would be helpful.
- You can see all my coaching packages, including the recent career package, and e-books on this link here to my shop, and check my availability on the (updated) button below. And if you can't see a suitable time, contact me anyway and I'll do my best to find one for you.
I've updated my Linktree, about everything that I'm involved in, on the first button below. Also the three free quizzes, that help you to pinpoint where you can best make changes in your situation. You can repeat them whenever you like to see your progress over
time.
Thanks for your time, - have a good weekend, keep safe, and I'll be in touch again in a couple of weeks,
All best wishes,
Barbara
