On February 8, 1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored Harry Houdini with his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Some sources mistakenly say that the star was given in 1975. This is incorrect. See the official Walk of Fame website.
The star is located at 7001 Hollywood Boulevard, directly across the street from the famous Grauman's Chinese Theater. Houdini's "neighbors" on the Walk of Fame include actors Robert Stack and Michael Douglas, as well as comedienne Phyllis Diller.
On October 28, 2008, the now-damaged star was replaced during a rededication ceremony attended by a number of celebrities and magicians, including Neil Patrick Harris, Penn & Teller, and Tippi Hedren.
Houdini's star displays the Movie Camera icon, to honor his contributions to the Motion Picture industry.
