Happy Friday!
I hope you’ve had a great week! Another busy one for me. Spent a couple of days visiting a pal of mine in Scottsdale, Arizona. Beautiful city. Back in the day, I used to play a lot of comedy clubs in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area. It’s been built up A LOT since those days. Great restaurants. Great shopping. The only drawback is the political scene.
It’s an election year and the television ads are a culture shock. They make normal political attack ads look like love letters. “I’m the biggest jerk running in this election!” “No, he’s lying, I’m the biggest jerk! Vote for me.” Okay I’m exaggerating, but not by much.
The weirdest experience was getting in an Uber wearing a mask. I wear a
mask any place I’m indoors. Arizona is a red state so virtually nobody wears them. I hop in the Uber with my mask on and the driver says, “Oh you don’t need that. I’m perfectly safe. My wife and I take our Ivermectin every day!”
In case you don’t know, Ivermectin is a horse de-wormer that has zero effect as far as immunizing humans from the Covid virus is
concerned, but the far right has spent months trying to convince people to take that instead of getting the FDA approved, effective, vaccines. It was like stepping into a parallel universe. God, I’m glad I live in California.
I’m also busy working on the television script for GENUINE and preparing for my second weekend of preview performances of "Grandma &
Me" at the Marsh in San Francisco. The first two shows went just great, with the audiences kind enough to stand and applaud at the conclusion. I have 5 more previews through October 7 with the official Opening Night on Saturday, October 8. Showtimes are Fridays at 7:30 PM and Saturdays at 5 PM.
We’re honoring grandparents and single parents during
previews. If you’re a grandparent and you go to www.themarsh.org and use the code GRANDPARENT, you get your tickets for FREE during previews! If you’re a single parent or were raised by a single parent, go to the same link and use the code SINGLEPARENT5 and your tickets are
just $5! Supplies are limited and this special is only offered through the Friday, October 7 performance. Hope to see you there.
Got just a few suggestions for you this week:
