8 years ago, I had been performing my solo plays like NOT A GENUINE BLACK MAN and THE WAITING PERIOD at theaters in San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles for over a decade. One night, I noticed that a lot of the folks coming to see me in San Francisco were friends and neighbors from the San Leandro area, where I live. It gave me a kooky idea.

Would people in San Leandro support this unique brand of professional theater if I presented my shows and the plays of other acclaimed artists right here in town?

It was immediately successful beyond my wildest dreams. So far, I’ve presented over 60 different plays and more than 200 performances.

Things were going great guns until the Covid shutdown happened. Once we resumed when the world reopened, our subscribership had dropped by more than 50%. People who had ALREADY PAID for their season tickets weren’t coming. I’d run into subscribers at Safeway or Sabino’s and ask where they’d been only to be told that they were afraid of crowds.

Our 9th season is scheduled to begin at the end of February and while we have a number of subscribers, we still need another 40 or so people in order to cover the costs of producing a season. Otherwise, we’ll have to cancel it.

I don’t want to see this happen because we have some AMAZING shows lined up for 2024 and…I want to make it to our 10th season in 2025. So, I’m writing to ask for your help. If you haven’t yet subscribed, please do. If you’re a former subscriber who’s been Covid shy, please come on back. We’re taking every precaution to keep patrons safe, including mandatory masking of audiences at all performances.
