COPIE’S CHOICE returns!

Published: Sat, 06/12/21

Copie's Choice for the weekend of June 11

I hope that you and your family survived the nightmare we’ve endured the last 15 months. I consider myself blessed to be fully vaccinated along with my nearest and dearest.

The finish line is in sight. If you’ve been vaccinated, good for you! You’re expediting the demise of this pandemic. If you haven’t been vaccinated, GET vaccinated. If not for you, do it for the people who love you.

WHAT I’VE BEEN UP TO

I’ve had a productive (and fattening) lockdown! Did you gain weight? I’m exercising like an Olympiad to take it off but it doesn’t come off as easily it did when I was 21. Wonder why?

During the shutdown I’ve been hunkered down and writing. I’ve written a solo play, an ensemble piece for San Francisco Playhouse, a crime novel and a television pilot script.

More details on this work in the days to come.

I’ll have a MAJOR announcement regarding television soon.

MOVIE

In the meantime, I did a small part in the upcoming Sony movie, VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE. It’s a sequel to the 2018 hit VENOM. The film stars Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson. One of my scenes is with Tom Hardy. Great guy and terrific scene partner. It opens in September.

MORE MOVIES

I saw A QUIET PLACE 2. See it. It’s at least as good as the first picture. I’d argue better.

CasteBOOKS

I just finished reading Isabel Wilkerson’s CASTE. When I say that it’s the most important book I’ve ever read, I’m not being hyperbolic.

Wilkerson goes in to detail about the creation and continuation of the caste system in America. She also takes great pains to objectively compare America’s caste system to those of India and Nazi Germany.

She proves that race relations stand where they do today for a reason. If you read no other book this year, read CASTE.

BEST OF SAN FRANCISCO SOLO SERIES

If you are a subscriber to my solo series, I am currently in talks with library officials about dates when we can restart. I’ll let you know just as soon as they’re locked down.

In the meantime please put 9/25 and NYE on your calendar. Live comedy concerts at the Performing Arts Center are coming back on the fall!

PODCAST

For the last year I’ve been doing a weekly podcast on the news of the week called COPELAND’S CORNER. Each week a panel of comics join me in dissecting what’s going in the country and the world. It drops every Friday.

You can listen to the newest episode free, here.

I’ll check you out next week. Til then, stay safe. I need you and I’m looking forward to seeing you in person soon!
