One of the most common questions we receive is, “how do I negotiate compensation with confidence”? 

But the right question to ask might be, “Am I familiar with the compensation model my company offers”?

Harvard Law School Governance Forum

According to an article by the Harvard Law School Governance Forum, “CEO pay continues to be discussed extensively in the media, in the boardroom, and among investors and proxy advisors. Despite strong Total Shareholder Returns (TSR) in 2020, CEO pay remained flat due to the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly resulting from lower bonus payouts.  

2022 CEO Target Pay

Regarding 2022 CEO target pay, we are expecting increases to be in the mid- single digits given very strong financial and TSR performance (S&P 500 was +29% in 2021) as the economy continues to grow and Boards increasingly try to motivate and retain executives in a very competitive labor market.

Executives in industries with favorable economic conditions and higher growth (e.g., technology and biotechnology) will likely see more significant pay increases (greater than 10%) while those in hard-hit industries may see flat target pay.” 

According to Lotte:  

“Compensation is often misunderstood. What I have learned is going into these compensation negotiation conversations, you need to be able to know what you're willing to compromise on and what you're not willing to compromise on…”

This weekend I’m enjoying time at the cottage where I like to swim, hike, and canoe. Here is Maddie (our Digital Marketing Manager & Podcast Producer) at the cottage last week for our quarterly business planning session.

She is in my great grandmother’s rocking chair as she works on our plan.The rocking chair was made in the 1870s in Port Dufferin, Nova Scotia (CANADA) and has rocked to sleep many generations of children and babies since then.
