I’ve been honored to advise thousands of executives in my career. Many are at a fork in the road—tired of their daily grind and want to change industries for a greener pasture. While I understand changing industries can feel like a smart play, sometimes it can be a steep climb.

Time may not be your friend.

My recommendation for CEOs and other leaders planning to exit from their current roles is to consider an industry-adjacent move. While industry changes are certainly possible, the time required to switch from manufacturing to SaaS technology (as one example) can be a grueling challenge.

Instead, consider an industry-adjacent niche.

As a business builder with an entrepreneurial drive, Brendan St. Jacques decided he wanted a change. After a very lucrative career in the hotel and hospitality industry, he launched an industry change. What he learned in his journey helped him land an opportunity in the sweet spot between hospitality and technology (both passions for him).

My Grand Turk Adventure Part 2

Here is Ruby. Ruby is a rescue puppy from the island of Grand Turk. As in many countries, homeless and unwanted dogs roam the streets and countryside. While visiting my sister and her husband in Grand Turk two weeks ago (my first vacation since 2018), we encountered an 11-week-old homeless puppy completely alone. After much deliberation, we decided to bring her to Nova Scotia (CANADA).

It was not an easy undertaking. First, we needed to determine the process for transporting an animal to a different country. My sister and brother-in-law worked tirelessly to arrange a vet examination, complete the government paperwork, and arrange to bring her onto the flights (there were 3 flights to bring her home).

We are delighted to, once again, have a puppy in our home. The fun and antics she displays keep us entertained while we take great comfort in knowing she now has a safe home. We would like to acknowledge the kindness of Chris of the Grand Turk SPCA in helping get ruby to safey.
