Springtime at the cottage

Here is Ruby, our Caribbean rescue watching over the lake at the cottage yesterday morning (Saturday). In Nova Scotia (CANADA), this is the weekend many cottagers open for the cottage season. This photo makes the lake look small, but it is actually much bigger. 

Ruby is very well behaved and doesn't leave our property, which is quite remarkable given that six months ago she was wandering alone around the island of Grand Turk. 

During the summer, we enjoy paddle boarding (not me, as I don't have the balance, but the girls are great at it), canoeing, kayaking, and of course, swimming (my favorite). On a good day, I can swim the length of the lake and back (over an hour). 

We also have a floating dock (a barge) fueled by an electric motor and in the evenings at sunset, we enjoy a "sunset tour" around the lake. 

We usually round out the night with a campfire by the lake and then coffee on the dock in the mornings (when weather permits).
