I was joined by Westgate's Board Chairman, Stephen Pitt-Walker, who delivered a signature story based on his experience as a P&L holder for technology M&A during his tenure with Gartner in the Asia Pacific. He described his M&A and global integration strategies to our audience of 34 portfolio company leaders (stay tuned for a podcast on worldwide
M&A and integration soon).
He described the complexities of business making and service delivery across cultures and geographies post-acquisition and how labor costs and availability vary. With his programmatic approach to global integration, the model delivers exponential efficiency to the integration
process.
Again, the signature story is a tool to help demonstrate the promise of value to an audience, removing the need for constant creation of content for pitch decks.
Questions during the event focused on integrating the personal brand with the organization's. When CEOs serve as ambassadors for the firm by delivering on the company's mission according to their own values, they are often regarded as champions for the firm.
Each leader has their signature style, a unique way of communicating and relating to the organization and its stakeholders. Personal branding complements the corporate brand when the CEO and their employees live and demonstrate the firm's values in the delivery of services and messaging to the marketplace. The personal brand remains consistent over time and across organizations served. When the CEO's personal values align with those of the organization, the branding (the unique
promise of value) becomes integrated, creating economic value.
One of the tenets of the Career Navigator Program is helping executives identify organizations that align with their personal values through the Ideal Company Profile. When the client is aligned with the organization's values, there is a
multiplier effect because of the congruence of expectations and behavior. Values drive behavior, and productivity and efficiency are realized when there is congruence with values between the CEO and The Firm.
