Entrepreneurs, Inventors, & Investors Gather
Hamptons Tech Week (June 4-6) brought entrepreneurs, investors, and inventors together to experience an intimate exchange of ideas, perspectives, and opportunities for investment, collaboration, and community building. This was my first time attending a conference hosted primarily outside. Luckily the weather cooperated.
Organizations represented at the event included Google, Adobe, Microsoft, Bernstein Private Wealth, Optima Board Services Group, 87th Street Creative, Manhattan Venture Partners, Ethreal, NY Venture Partners, Travelist, Aegon Asset Management US, Sirius XM, Invest Northern Ireland, Alembic, Solyco Advisors, Status Labs, Culture Partners, and
others.
Westgate's Board Chair Speaks at Hamptons Tech Week
Hamptons Tech Week brought Stephen Pitt-Walker, CEO of Optima Board Services Group (and Chair of the Westgate Advisory Board), from Sydney, Australia to speak on Pop Culture & Tech: Shaping Society Through Innovation & Strategy. Stephen
spoke about the importance of culture to markets, businesses, and investors. He advocated for a balanced approach to business results, especially through sustainability and impact driven investments, governance standards, operating behaviors, and between stakeholder and market expectations. These rely on understanding evolving social standards, expectations, and norms, manifest especially
in the new generations (Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha), as they become market-dominant demographics and their values and concerns become drivers of value and value creation. He argued, this also underpins ethical business as well as business ethics.
I had the pleasure of introducing the panel "Founder's Syndrome: How Organizations Pivot and Thrive with Legacy." moderated by Carrie Barratt from LongHouse Reserve with panelists Alejandro Saralegui from Madoo and Jess Frost from the Arts Center at Duck Creek."
If you've not had the chance to visit this enchanting venue, you must put it on your list of places to visit. While a remote location and a challenge to get to, it created a magnetic environment to meet new friends and form lasting relationships.
Career Advisory & Personal Branding Services Serving clients globally since 2011.
LongHouse Reserve is a 16-acre integrated environment in East Hampton, New York, created by artist, collector, and world-renowned textile designer and weaver Jack Lenor Larsen (1927-2020), serving the community with vast open space, programs in art, nature, and wellness, and providing a sanctuary for Long Island and beyond.
The sculpture garden, featuring more than 60 outdoor works, encourages exploration and contemplation for new and repeat visitors alike. As of this year, the garden is fully open to the public for education and enjoyment, with the next chapter of activating Larsen’s home (a modernist structure based on the Shinto Shrine at Ise) and displaying
the extensive craft and design collections.
Here is Nay, a rescue who lives with Morris Stemp, one of Westgate's board advisors. I had the good fortune to visit with Nay while on Long Island during the HTW conference.
