I worked with Ty last year after he struggled to negotiate an internal promotion and then later an external job offer. This true story has a very happy ending. Read about our journey together.
With fire in his belly, Ty is a successful, ambitious, and independent self-starter with a strong competitive edge. Despite this, he is not getting promotions he knows he deserves. His clients love him, his colleagues respect him, and his mentors are scratching their heads trying to determine why he’s not getting promotions internally or closing job offers externally.
With time marching on, he knows it’s best to leave, but doesn’t know how to launch a search because since starting his career, he’s been promoted internally or recruited by other companies. This is the first time in his career he’s had to look for an opportunity on his own.
And he doesn’t know how.
Using my hidden job market process, Ty first identified the organizations that matched his personal values and then we created a customized networking plan that put him in front of those decision-makers. Although he interviewed with more than a dozen organizations, he turned down 6 offers. He accepted the 7th offer with great pleasure.
He is now the Chief Revenue Officer of an iconic technology company in the Northeast and grew his compensation by $140K.
Here is what Ty said:
“Maureen is very organized and professional. She has a wealth of knowledge that she draws upon to guide her clients through their career transitions. She offers proven, state of the art strategies to enable her clients to access the mysterious 'hidden job market'.”
And, just a couple of weeks ago, I received another note from him:
“Hi Maureen: I’m still with ABC Company and am absolutely loving the new job after 8 months. The culture here is a perfect fit for me, the leadership is solid, and my team is a motivated, competent, high performing group that is teaching me a lot. With your help, I really did find the perfect job for me and I couldn’t be happier with the change. Working with an experienced career coach like you has reinforced
my belief that expert guidance and advice really adds value to someone going through a career transition.”

This weekend I’m in Cape Breton Island with my daughter, Allison, for a Covid-friendly family event. It’s been more than 9 months since I left mainland, Nova Scotia. Located 3 hours from the Halifax International Airport, Cape Breton Island is at the eastern end of Nova Scotia and is famous for its Cabot Trail, Celtic Colours International Music Festival, and the Highlands National Park. Alive in the
millennia’s old history of Unama’ki—Cape Breton Island’s true name, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People.
I cannot imagine a more beautiful place to visit this time of year!
