We interviewed our first mystery guest for our biweekly podcast "Get Hired Up! The Podcast for Next-Level Executives & Board Appointees."
Join Andrew, CPA, CFO for hire, national retail executive, entrepreneur, and me to discuss his dynamic career and massive transition from corporate executive to successful entrepreneur.
He shares his advice on the most efficient ways to grow within your current company—relationship building with the right people and elevating your visibility and why that's so important for your future.
We also discuss how your corporate executive skills can apply to the entrepreneur journey, what he would have done differently, what surprised him the most in his career thus far, and what doors opened for him by establishing important relationships inside his corporation.
Here is part of what he says:
“…specifically to your question on managing your career…I mean, in my experience, there's all kinds of opportunity, but if you are not actively managing your brand—and again, I wouldn't have used this term maybe five years ago, but I certainly embrace it now—if you're not having some visibility and not just doing good work, but being seen as doing good work and trying
to get out there a little bit more, you run the risk of being passed over for promotions or opportunities.
Not because you're not capable, but just because people don't know you as well as they maybe know somebody else.”

Here is a photo of me March of 2019 outside the famous Hotel Del Coronado “The Del” near San Diego – one of my favorite cities – during a visit to Coronado Island for a career industry conference. I miss those days dearly! Opened in February 1888, Hotel del Coronado debuted as an architectural masterpiece, acclaimed for its spectacular seaside setting and world-famous
weather. Sadly, here in Nova Scotia [EASTERN CANADA], we are under a complete lockdown due to the global pandemic. It’s times like these when I like to thumb through my photo albums and reminisce about the good old days!
I hope you and your family stay safe and have a great week ahead!
