Dear ,
This year’s IRS filing deadline is April 18, 2022. We are moving closer and closer to this day, highlighting how important it is to get your tax filing in order.
Here is what you need to do to avoid IRS penalties this year:
- Wrap up your tax return now and submit it before the deadline
- Pay all outstanding (estimated) taxes before the deadline.
- If you think you will not make the deadline, prepare to file a request for a “filing” extension BUT pay the maximum estimated taxes for 2021 to avoid late payment penalties and interest.
Point number 3 above is a reminder that an extension to file is not an extension to pay. The IRS may grant you the extension to prepare and submit your tax return, but not payment of taxes.
This is why it is important to work with me, a trained tax professional, to help you adequately plan how you will prepare your returns and pay in time. Talk to me today so that I can prepare your 2021 tax return and help you
avoid IRS penalties. Call my office today at (202) 618-1297 to get started.
