Hey ,
Travel is a massive part of running a small business or hustling. Imagine meeting a client at a local restaurant or grabbing small office supplies
nearby.
You may be a vlogger and travel to different locations to take videos with
different settings.
These activities contribute
massively to your mileage.
However, because there could be so much
travel, it is easy to forget to book your odometer at the beginning and end of every qualifying trip. Therefore, I am reminding you to be intentional about deducting your mileage.
You should keep a logbook in your car so that it stays as a reminder to record your odometer. As soon as you record it, take pictures, and name the image to match the date and trip you are about to take.
Remember, doing this helps you create a paper trail that the IRS can use to verify your mileage.
You got a very high chance of being audited if you have more mileage than average taxpayers. Therefore, these steps are essential. Take them now as you prepare to file your 2022 tax return.
