HAVE YOU VISITED MY STORE YET?
My new online retail store is open and live. Last week, I shared that I was partnering with DIG Direct, a division of Dog is Good. I've always wanted a retail store but wasn't sure how to get started, how to source quality materials for t-shirts, and how to afford a graphic
designer. Now I don't have to worry about any of that!
Take a moment to check out my store this week! Lots of cool stuff and more coming.

I get a lot of questions and comments each week and I thought it would be fun to address these here. Some are profound and others will leave you scratching your head.
5 Reasons Every Raw Feeder Should Invest in Nutrient Testing
|
COMMENT: This sounds like a scam to me. How in the world would this info be gotten from a hair sample? Seems similar to allergy testing from hair. Sorry, not buying it. For that price, I’d say a blood test would be a much better go.

When it comes to the pet industry, it doesn't surprise me that people question brands and businesses. Hair mineral analysis isn't a scam. This is an effective way for both humans to check their nutrient levels and now that it's available for pets, this testing helps DIY raw feeders stay on top of their dog's
diet.
There is a blood test for pets that offers a nutritional analysis, however, it's not commonly used and I'm not sure how effective it is. I do know that it costs 4x as much as ParsleyPet, which is the test that I use for my dogs and costs the same as a complete blood panel, which my dogs get annually.
It's a myth that a complete blood panel can be used to identify early stages of nutrient toxicity/deficiency. Yes, the blood panel may pick up on some changes caused by toxicity/deficiency that need to be addressed, however, the bloodwork doesn't provide information that helps me adjust my dogs' diet. As I understand it, by the time I begin seeing this in my dog's bloodwork, we're in trouble - ParlseyPet allows me to catch these things
quickly.
Also, ParsleyPet is a company endorsed by Dr. Laurie Coger, a 25 year holistic veterinarian and raw feeder. She wouldn't put her name on something that was a scam.
The one thing that I appreciate about ParsleyPet is that they don't try and up-sale you after they present your report(s). There are no supplements your dog suddenly needs. The only thing they offer is a consultation to better understand the report, which is stated upfront.

I often receive emails from pet parents who, like me 9 years ago, discovered food energetics and think that they can use the charts available online to cure their dog's allergies and other health issues.

This week, my dogs are eating premade raw from Northwest Naturals and Answers Pet Food. I planned to do meal prep this weekend, but spaced on thawing out the food so the dogs will be enjoying Northwest Naturals and Answers Pet Food.
NORTHWEST NATURALS WHITE FISH/SALMON
I order these in the 5 lb chubs (rolls). I'm not comfortable feeding raw salmon that I get from the local grocery store. I prefer to cook it to avoid salmon poisoning, which used to be a risk here in the Pacific Northwest. I haven't heard of any cases, but I don't want to take a chance, so I go with brands that I trust.
I usually add fish to my dogs' meals rather than feeding them a meal of only fish, so I'll also be adding chicken from Answers Pe
ANSWERS PET FOOD - STRAIGHT CHICKEN
I ordered a case of the straight chicken after Sydney was diagnosed with cancer in 2020. Although my dogs have a chicken intolerance, they do great on Answers products, so they'll enjoy this week's meal. I love Answers because of the sourcing, the people behind the brand, and their commitment to quality, fermentation, and our pets.
SUPPLEMENTS
With supplements, my focus is on improving my dogs gut health and boosting their immune system. I do this with digestive supplements, medicinal mushrooms, and herbs. I no longer share specifics of what I give my dogs, because what I've chosen is based on years of research and is specific to my dogs.

I update the schedules when I add a new protein to my dogs' diet, which isn't that often, but it does happen.
