I KILLED A SNAKE
The weather is amazing. My garden is gorgeous. I'm outside with the dogs several times a day and the extra exercise is trimming away the pounds. I love spring. This morning, deer were walking across our property. It's amazing!!!
And, it's the perfect weather for me to enjoy one of my favorite chores - lawn mowing. We have a John Deere riding lawnmower that I love and the other day, I hopped on to mow the lawn.
I'm a monster.
As I was mowing the lawn and I saw a dead snake and knew that it was my fault. When I'm mowing, I usually watch out for snakes. I'm not a fan but they deserve to have a good day too. This guy (or gal) was minding their own business and then I came along and mutilated them and I feel like crap about it.
So much so that I buried the snake in a pretty area of the property and said a prayer.
What sucks is that it was a garter snake and they expel a scent that smells like decomposed flesh and we now have a spot on our property that the dogs are very interested in. I didn't think they'd notice because they don't play in this area of our property, but those damn canine noses picked up the scent and each one tracked down the murder scene to investigate.
Thankfully, no one rolled in the stop. This time. I need to pour something on the stop to kill the smell without killing the grass. Or I could just wait for another rain.
I feel like a monster. I have to mow the rest of the property tomorrow. I don't plan turn this into a reptile murder spree.
Hope you're having a nice Spring.
