Happy Tuesday!!!
Thanks for being a loyal email subscriber. I appreciate hearing from you. Let me know if you ever have any questions. The following are a few questions that I received recently.
HOW TO UPLIFT YOUR FACEBOOK NEWSFEED
Facebook is kind of a bummer for many of us and I'm seeing a lot of people deactivate their accounts. I use the platform to manage my business and needed to figure out a way to stay on Facebook without being drawn into the constant conflict. Hopefully one of these methods will work for you.
Method 1:
- When you're scrolling through your newsfeed, snooze anyone who is discussing a hot topic - think PPP (politics, protests, pandemic). It doesn't matter if the conversation is positive or negative, these topics tend to go dark nowadays so I snooze them all.
- Don't comment on these topics either. As tempting as it is to try and have a respectful conversation, right now, Facebook isn't the best platform for this, so I remain silent.
- Unfriend people you don't know. I made the mistake of accepting friend requests from dog lovers and people in the pet industry. Now my friend list includes actual friends.
It'll take about a week for your newsfeed to clear up, however, you'll have to do it again in 30 days since FB only gives us a 30-day snooze. If you need a more permanent solution, check out Method 2.
Method 2:
- Set up a second profile (use a different variation of your name - instead of John Smith, use J Smith or Jay Smith). And start building a new profile with friends; be sure to let them know that you're doing this so they don't think your account was hacked.
- If you have a business page, send your main profile a friend request and then, from your main (or first) profile, add your new profile as an Admin to your Facebook page (or group). This will allow you to continue to manage your business from Facebook (desktop and app) without the distraction of your newsfeed.
This is quick and easy to do; just save your new user name and password. Oh, and you'll have to have a 2nd email address, which you can get from GMail for free. By the way, Facebook isn't keen on us having multiple profiles, so don't use the same name or profile picture.
If you end up preferring your second profile, you can download all of your images and transfer them to the new profile and start fresh.
