Hi
When I began feeding my dogs a raw food diet, I joined and left (or was kicked out) of so many raw feeding groups that it became discouraging. Everyone has such strict rules and while I understand the need for rules, it's hard to keep track of what you can and cannot discuss in the various groups.
When it comes to learning how to feed your dog a raw food diet, joining a friendly raw feeding group can be a great help. The right raw feeding group offers:
- Support during the transition; it can be frustrating and members can give you tips and tricks based on their experience.
- Different view points; every dog is different and it's important to entertain different ways to feed a raw diet.
- Recommendations; if you're looking for a source, review, a holistic vet, or more, you may find what you need in a raw feeding group.
- Connections to local friends who can tell you where they're sourcing their ingredients and, possibly, partner with you on bulk orders.
Friendly Raw Feeding Groups
There are hundreds of raw feeding groups on Facebook, but only three that I consider friendly. The Admins make a point of keeping the peace in the groups and fostering an atmosphere of learning.
And, did you know that Dr. Karen Becker and Rodney Habib have a new group?
I've had nothing but positive experiences in each of these groups. Despite having fed raw for 5+ years, I continue to learn new things from these groups and the friends I've made thanks to these groups.
I hope you have the same positive experience.

When I began researching what it would take to feed raw, I quickly became overwhelmed and a bit intimidated. Some of those raw feeding groups are intense. eventually found my tribe, experienced a lot of wins and losses as a new raw feeder, and then found my
stride. I share everything in my book, A Novice's Guide to Raw Feeding for Dogs, to save others the stress of learning how to feed raw..
