Hi
When I started feeding a raw diet, I added every supplement I was told to add by strangers in raw feeding groups. That was a big, expensive mistake. I didn't do my homework, I didn't make sure that my dogs needed the supplement, and making a meal took forever as I scooped, measured, and mixed every powder under the sun into each dogs' dish.
I scaled way back and started with what I knew. All of my dogs needed Omega 3 fatty acids and Rodrigo needed a digestive supplement. From there, I slowly added supplements as I learned more about my dogs' nutritional needs.
Today, it takes no time to feed my dogs because I began adding whole food supplements over pills, powders, and oils when I could; for example, I feed carp burgers, sardines, and phytoplankton instead of fish oil.
Supplements for My Dogs
Every year, I post an updated list of the supplements that I give to my dogs daily. Because you're a newsletter subscriber, you get a first look at the list. The following is a list of the supplements that I give to my dogs at least 4 days a week (just in case I forget).
And that's it! Everything else comes in the form of whole food.
Supplements for My Cat
I do have a cat that I feed a hybrid diet (wet food + raw food). He enjoys four supplements:
Later this month, I'll be publishing a full post about the supplements I give to my pets that includes all of the whole foods.
You'll receive another email in two days. In the meantime, please check out my blog for recent posts:
