"Rotational Mono Feeding (RMF) is a new way of feeding which takes into account the fact that the dog has only one chamber in his stomach and is therefore set up to digest only one TYPE OF FOOD at a time." Page 27, Dog Nutrition 101 by Nora Lenz.
I was recently introduced to RMF and found it fascinating. It's a new raw feeding model and I was excited to dive deep into this diet. Nora Lenz was kind enough to send me a copy of her book and she took some time out of her day to chat with me.
I spent a couple of weeks working on a review of the diet that is based on my reading of the book, time spent in the Facebook group, and a week attempting to feed one of the RMF protocols.
My review includes...
- a detailed explanation of rotational mono feeding
- whether RMF is a "balanced" diet
- the role of supplementation in RMF
- the role of fat in RMF
- things I disagree with and what inspires me
- changes I made to my dogs' diet based on what I learned
I'm still learning and reading so this review will probably be updated again. But, for now, it's over 3,500 words and nearly 20,000 characters. And yet, there is still more to say. Wow!
PRO TIP: Before rejecting new information, take the time to do a deep dive. You never know what you'll learn that may help your dog, someone else's dog, or a future dog.
Where You Can Read the Review...
The review went Live yesterday on my Patreon. If you'd like to read it now, it's only $1 (or $1 a month if you'd like to become a regular supporter).
The review will go Live on my blog, Keep the Tail Wagging, in a few weeks. I'd like to continue learning about RMF before posting my final thoughts.
