Yeah. You read that right. It started a few months ago with eggs so I began
cooking eggs for the dogs (poached eggs are so easy to make). A few weeks ago, he sniffed his food and walked away.
I tried meal toppers, bone broth, fish stock - he's unenthusiastically eat his food, but he'd never finish a meal.
Someone once told me that older dogs prefer their food at a warmer temp. So I tried to things and now he's eating raw.
Cooking [an easy recipe]
- 2 lbs. of grass-fed beef
- 1/3 cup of Dr. Harvey's Paradigm
I cooked the beef in the Instant Pot for 20 minutes. And once the Paradigm base mix was hydrated, I mixed it into the beef. I fed warm with a topper.
Warm Up His Raw Meals
A few days ago I thawed some bison testicles (not thought I'd be typing those words) and didn't really want to fry them up for Rodrigo. So I sliced them up and gave to the dogs and Rodrigo ate it with no hesitation.
Me: "I knew you liked raw!"
Rodrigo: "Did you?"
Now, I turn on the kettle when I'm preparing the dogs' dishes. This is the safest way to warm up the food when there are ground bones in the mix. The water isn't boiling, it's just hot enough to warm the food without burning Rodrigo. He now eats raw again.
So glad I spent all that money on grass fed beef.
