Dr. Laurie Coger hosts an amazing event in Albany, New York. I purchased first class tickets to attend in 2020 and then COVID happened.
Two years later, the Expo is back on the calendar. March 19-20 will be an exciting weekend. This event features Dr. Karen Becker, Rodney Habib, oncologist Dr. Kendra Pope, and professional dog trainer Susan Garrett.
I've been getting a lot of messages from folks asking if I plan to be at the Expo and the answer is a firm "NO." But the reasons may not be what you think...
Masks Suck
Yeah, I wear my mask when it's required and if I had to take a flight, I would mask up. But the idea of wearing a mask on a six hour flight with a possible layover is not appealing. Travel is getting a lot easier, but I'm going to stay close to home for now.
I Got COVID
It started the day before Christmas Eve with a cough and then I had the worst four days and then I had no energy and difficulty breathing for weeks following. It sucked!!! Although I'm vaccinated, I'm not ready to be around a large group of people yet, especially given the latest strain. COVID sucks!!!
My Dog Has Cancer
Although Scout is stable and doing great (he'll be in remission soon), I'm not ready to leave him yet. I made a cancer protocol for him (
check it out over on Patreon) and it's reasonable to me - insane to Johan. I'm not ready to dump this on him yet. Even for a few days.
I Can't with Alaska Airlines
I canceled my flight in 2020 when it didn't look like COVID would be gone in the two weeks we were promised. According to Alaska, since I canceled the tickets, I wasn't eligible to rebook the flight. I was able to get them to change their mind, but the hassle was a pain in the neck - long hours on hold with people who can't help you isn't fun.
Why YOU Should Go...
Despite my lame excuses, I'm bummed that I won't be able to attend.
This is an opportunity to connect face-to-face with like-minded pet parents and leaders in the Fresh Food Community. If you have questions, bring them because this is a great time to get some answers. And it's not just about cornering Becker and Habib, it's about being in a room with so much experience and brain power that you will go home feeling like you can take on the world; or at least your dog's world.
