I don't just love dogs. I'm also pretty obsessed with movies, a few TV shows, books, essential oils, and rocks. I love rocks.
Did you know that those of us who collect rocks have a lapidary hobby? Lapidary comes from the Latin word Lapis, which means stone.
I started collecting rocks 33 years ago when I moved to Seattle. I found a big rock that I took back to my dorm room. I named him Timothy. This was during my first week of college; I still have the rock today. Year later, I found myself collecting rocks to remember a place, a vacation, or a day. I love rocks that feel smoothly in my hands, I love colorful rocks (black, white, red), and I love crystals.
So, why am I talking to you about rocks today? Well, several months ago, I ordered a few black tourmaline crystals in the hopes that they'll provide EMF protection and I placed them around the house next to electronics.
But does it work?
Why Folks are Concerned About WiFi
I love the convenience, but I'm a bit worried about how WiFi affects my dogs' health (and the humans too). There are many health concerns connected to the electromagnetic frequencies emitted from WiFi; a short list of the health concerns include:
- Headaches
- Sleeplessness
- Muscle aches
- Oxidative stress
- Fatigue
- Depression
- Cancer
I've read that we should turn off our WiFi at night or when we're not at home. But now that I work from home and I work late into the night, it's easier to keep my WiFi on 24/7. Having had TWO cancer diagnosis, I had to find a solution. Not that I think my WiFi gave my dogs cancer, but anything I can do to remove stressers from my dogs' life, I'm down.
So, we're trying black tourmaline.
EMF and Black Tourmaline
The reason folks recommend black tourmaline to protect against EMF is because the stone is high in iron and absorbs EMFs by drawing the electromagnetic fields in towards itself. It sounds woo woo, especially when you learn that this rock can block negativity, but a study was done on crystals that found that black tourmaline is effective in dispersing EMFs.
How I Use Black Tourmaline
It's recommended that we place our black tourmaline around the house, next to electronic devices. In our house, I placed stones next to our televisions and the WiFi tower. You can even buy tourmaline to attach to your phone or to wear as jewelry.
I'm not reading up on the "healing power of crystals," while collecting stones and crystals.
Books on Crystals
I'm currently reading the following books and I ordered a reference chart as well:
PRO TIP: If you're new to crystals and don't live near an area where they're everywhere, order a mystery box on Etsy. It's a great way to start your collection.
Charging Crystals
I recently learned that I'm supposed to be charging my crystals under the full moon or new moon. I don't trust myself to keep track of the moon cycles, so I charge my crystals once a month by cleaning/dusting them while thinking of my intentions.
I don't really know what I'm doing, but I'm learning.
