I started rewriting my book, A Novice's Guide to Raw Feeding for Dogs. It's been about five years, I think, and how I view raw feeding has changed. So many people are waking up to the benefits
of feeding fresh food and if they stumble upon my book or blog, I want them to have accurate information.
So, starting tonight, I'll be writing for one hour every night until my book is finished. A lot is being deleted and I think this new version of the book will be significantly better.
I'd love your help.
What are Your Raw Feeding Questions?
This book is for pet parents who are new to raw feeding, interested in reading a different perspective on raw feeding, or simply want to brush up on a few things.
With that in mind, what questions do you have about raw feeding for dogs?
Share Your Raw Feeding Journey
My book and blog feature my raw feeding journey and I love sharing it. With my update, I want to expand the story to include the experiences of others because, for me at least, I love seeing that the benefits of feeding fresh food to dogs is being witnessed by more than just a couple of people.
If you'd like your raw feeding journey considered for the 2022 version of my book, please send the following to me via email:
- Details about your dog: name, sex, breed, age, weight
- The year you transitioned your dog to raw: 2013, Jan 2022
- A brief explanation of why you transitioned your dog to raw: due to seasonal allergies, IBS, the breeder insisted, cancer, etc.
- What raw feeding model you follow and a brief explanation of why: BARF, PREY, NRC, RMF, Hybrid (with kibble)
- If you feed premade or DIY: no brand names
- What improvements you witnessed right away (give a time frame) and over the longer term: Rodrigo's skin rashes, joint issues, and ear infections disappeared within two weeks; his digestive issues, seasonal allergies, and food intolerances improved over time.
Keep in mind that I can't include everyone and I would like to keep these contributions to one page (two at the most) for each entry.
Did You Read the First Book?
I would also like to include reviews of the first book from pet parents on the back of the new version. If you read the first book and found it helpful, please consider sending me a brief review (50 words or less) for the book.
PRO TIP: When I'm limited on word count, I write in Word (or Pages for Mac) because there is a count in the lower left hand corner.
Publishing Date
Like the first book, I'll be self publishing this book also. Before it is available for purchase, I'll be giving an electronic copy to my Patreon supporters for feedback by May 31, 2022 (fingers crossed). The book will be available for purchase no later than August 1, 2022 - which is also the one year anniversary of my podcast,
Girls with Dogs, with Cathy Bennet. It's also her birthday.
Thank You So Much
I really appreciate that you've joined me on this journey. I had a crap weekend - Scout got sick (more in an upcoming blog post) and it scared the crap out of me. He's doing great now, but it was an eye opening experience that reminded me that I'm a member of an amazing community. None of us are alone on this journey of learning how to raise happier, healthier dogs.
