How I Save Money on Pet Products
Feeding a fresh food diet can be expensive. Especially if you prioritize ethical sourcing and quality ingredients.
I'm able to do this within my budget by doing the following:
- Buying in bulk
- Setting up recurring orders
- Shopping online sales (especially on Black Friday/Cyber Monday)
- downloading a discount code finder (I use one by Capital One)
- Alternating products
It takes some getting used to, but it works. I now have an inventory of pet products that I use with my dogs. I can wait for sales and no longer pay regular price for anything.
Alternating Products
I like to alternate brands in case a company closes shop, has delays, or changes their formulation (and it no longer works for my dogs). For example, I alternate between three CBD oils:
- CBD Dog Health – EASE – this one is great for inflammation as well as anxiety, and allergies. Plus it offers pain relief.
- Earth Buddy – Balance and Mobility – Balance is great for overall health, including anxiety and pain relief, while Mobility is more focused on…mobility.
- Chubbs Dogs – this is a new product that I was introduced to recently and I love it. I use the human line for myself and it’s eased my anxiety, I sleep better, and I feel more focused throughout the day.
Wild Wednesday
We have an independent pet store in my town that hosts a monthly event called Wild Wednesday. On the first Wednesday of the money, Julz Animal Houz discounts all fresh food products (raw, freeze-dried, dehydrated) by 20%.
They began doing this to make raw feeding easier for pet parents during the pandemic and now continue this event as the influx of new raw feeders continues.
