My Thoughts on Supplements

Too often I see new raw feeders online asking which supplements their dog needs.  They'll get dozens of responses and I rarely see anyone asking questions to better understand...

• Why they think their dog needs a supplement.
• What their goals are with supplementation.
• If their dog is living with any health issues.
• What they're feeding their dog.
• If their dog is on any medication.
• What supplements they're already adding to the diet.

Supplements that Work for My Dogs

After years of trial and error, I finally figured out a few things when it comes to supplements:

• I supplement based on my dogs' needs.
• I like to have alternatives in case a product is discontinued.
• The dosage guide is just a recommendation; I need to figure out the right dosage for each of my dogs.
• Few supplements need to be given daily; I like to give my dogs a couple of days off each week.
• Not every supplement works for every dog.
