Variety is Key
But how much variety are we talking about?
I feed a variety of protein because I believe
this will better meet my dog's nutritional needs, balancing their diet over time.
I feed my the following to my
dogs:
- duck
- quail
- pork
- grass fed beef
- chicken
And, if I can get it for a good price ($6/lb or less), I'll order rabbit, venison, and emu.
I also feed fish and pasture-raised eggs and while they add nutrients to the diet, they are fed as a side dish.
Five proteins is fantastic, but I'd be happy if I was only feeding three proteins as long as I'm including ruminating and non-ruminating animals, red and white meat, and I won't break my budget.
