I'm feeding my dogs once daily, sort of...
Losing two dogs to cancer has changed the way I do a lot of things. The first change I made was to begin focusing on their gut health. This is something I did for Rodrigo due to past health issue and I began to wonder if this is why he's still with us.
My next step is change my feeding schedule.
I decided to begin feeding my dogs a morning meal of raw goat's milk or kefir to boost my dogs' gut health and immune system. I've read that feeding once daily also reduces inflammation, supports cognitive health, and prevents disease.
They enjoy a raw meal in the evening. Raw goat's milk and kefir are highly nutritious meals, allowing me to cut back their evening meals. I'm monitoring everyone's weight and will adjust their meals accordingly.
So far, I've noticed that Rodrigo's poops are smaller (they're usually larger than everyone's), which tells me he's absorbing more nutrients. His mobility has improved, allowing me to
cut back on his joint supplement and I skip a CBD oil day.
We did have one setback. I fed Rodrigo a full days meal of Farmer's Dog and that didn't
set well with him. He does better when I feed this food as a meal topper or side dish.
