A New Raw Feeding Model?
Last week, I shared that I'm feeding my dogs a light meal in the morning and a heavy meal in the evening. This raised a lot of questions because we've been told that it's better to feed a heavy meal at the start of the day and sleep on a light meal.
I would have thought so too, but then I thought of the last time I went to lunch with coworkers. We ate an amazing meal and although we didn't stuff ourselves, we didn't feel very motivated when we returned to the office.
Heavy meals make me feel sluggish, unfocused, and tired - I don't want to exercise, train, or write after a heavy meal. I'm currently researching this method of eating/feeding to better understand the benefits. So far, I've learned that
light to heavy feeding...
- promotes more efficient/natural detox
- improves digestion and nutrient absorption
- supports the body's natural circadian rhythms
- allows the body to use less energy for digestion; leaving more energy for activity and training
This may not work for all dogs, but
it's working for my dogs. We're into week three and Rodrigo's mobility continues to improve, the dogs are easier to communicate with, and they settle down and sleep well at night.
