Dog Treat Recipe with Calming Ingredients
With the Fourth of July coming up, I'm sure many people are thinking of ways they can provide their dog with some relief. My dogs do well on the Fourth of July. After a long day of walks, playing, exploring, and anything else that exercises their minds and bodies, my dogs generally sleep through all the noise.
But I'm not above giving them CBD oil and calming treats.
The following recipe was inspired by CocoTherapy.
BANANA, APPLE, CRANBERRY, COCONUT CALMING BISCUITS
I'm excited to try these biscuits. I'll be making a few batches for my dogs and their friends. The bananas are rich in potassium, high in fiber, and a good source of vitamins C and B6. The apples are low in calories and contain antioxidants and vitamins A and C. And the cranberries are rich in antioxidants which help support your dog's immune system, prevent allergies, and promote healthy skin. They're also high in fiber, which helps keep the
digestive system healthy.
Ingredients
6 eggs (room temperature)
1/4 cup melted organic coconut oil
1 tsp vanilla
2 TBPS unsweetened applesauce
2 ripe bananas – mashed
2/3 cup freeze-dried cranberries
1 cup organic coconut
flour (sifted)
Instructions
1) Pre-heat oven 350 degrees F
2) Blend together eggs, vanilla, applesauce, melted oil.
3) Add coconut flour. Blend well.
4) Fold in mashed bananas and freeze-dried cranberries.
5) Roll dough to ¼”
thickness. Cut with cookie cutter.
6) Place on un-greased cookie sheet.
7) Bake for around 20-25 minutes, until biscuits are golden brown. When done, turn off oven, and leave biscuits in oven for around 30 minutes for firmer biscuits.
CREATE A CALMING
TREAT
To turn these yummy treats into calming treats by adding chamomile or lavendar. I ordered organic flowers from Anthony's Goods and plan to make a match of biscuits with chamomile, one with lavender, and a batch with both. Because I'm uncertain of the
taste, I'm going to go lightly, by starting with a tablespoon of these calming ingredients.
