Only Supplements I Need
There are many amazing supplements on the market and I find myself wanting to throw everything at my dogs to keep them
healthy. But doing this is expensive and I'm never sure what's working and what's not working for my dogs when I over supplement.
After 11 years of feeding raw, I've finally settled on three supplements that I keep in my dogs' diet (5 days weekly).
Daily Dawg, Real Mushrooms
MYOS Muscle Formula
Gussy's Gut
Daily Dawg took their Five Defenders and made it better by adding herbal adaptogens, probiotics,
seaweed, lignans, phytoplankton, krill, antioxidants and fatty acids. I add this in the morning.
MYOS muscle & joint formula is a new addition to the regimen, added after interviewing the CEO for The Alternative Dog Moms podcast. This is a natural supplement made from chicken eggs that supports muscle health, improves mobility, and prevents muscle wasting in senior dogs.
Right now, I'm adding this twice daily -
we're in the first 30 days, but I've already seen improved mobility with Zoey, my senior girl.
Gussy's Gut is an organic blend of fermented, freeze-dried vegetables that supports gut health, promotes a robust immune system, and has healed my dog's leaky gut. I add this in the evening, splitting 1
tablespoon between three dogs. A bag lasts more than two months.
These aren't the only supplements I add to the diet. My dogs get other supplements to address other health issues, e.g., Bug Off
garlic granules to prevent fleas and ticks, colostrum for occasional extra gut support, or a liver supplement before and after vaccines.
And, about the "5 days weekly;" I like to take a couple days off. This accounts for a fasting day or when I forget.
We don't have to load up our dogs' meals with tons of supplements to improve their health. Find a few that work for your dog, while staying open to new products. No need to buy everything.
