The Sydney Morning Herald recently stated that research shows house values in Melbourne on average, have decreased 0.8%. However, overall values are 5.8% higher than a year ago.

As for first home buyers, they are now facing higher prices without a home to trade in that has increased in value and will need to assess what suburb they can afford but at least face a less frenzied market.
